Painted Dressers and Shabby Chic

Whoo hoo the sun is shining today.  Training for the Brighton marathon in all this wet weather has almost led to trench foot!  Well with the Brighton and Tunbridge Wells half marathons under my belt I just have the Spitfire 20 to do and then it’s taper down until the big day on the 6th of April.  I have been raising money for Breast Cancer Care and as Dad does up his shabby chic furniture pieces and sends a proportion of his profit to charity I have convinced him that helping me fundraise is a worthy cause and thankfully ‘Vintage and Shabby Chic’ furniture is very fashionable at the moment!

Apart from all of the marathon training I have been bursting with ideas to jazz up the showroom and stock.  The first idea was to wallpaper a corner with brick effect paper as it really gives an urban feel to the space and helps to inspire people.

With this all done we have moved some of our painted furniture into the space, particularly the painted dressers.  (These are available in any size and finish, for example with an oak top or pine top and painted in any Farrow and Ball colour or just waxed.)

I have also been trying to source some more original artwork and gifts and a trip to the South of England showground for the antiques fair didn’t fail to inspire.  I came away with some impressive metal artwork and a metal pig.  All of which I love and only wish I had a house big enough to accommodate a metal pig!

Furniture trends at the moment are definitely leaning towards the shabby chic and the Rustic Oak.  Our Rustic oak range is proving very popular as it is an extensive range with many pieces in it, including 2 different size tables and 3 different size sideboards.

We are now stocking a shabby chic bedroom range but don’t forget that we always have numerous one off pieces in that are always priced at bargain prices.
